FishHunter - Fish Finder/Sonar App Reviews

Not very accurate and very slow return

Not military grade. Return Ping is slow and inaccurate. Holding decoy 7.2 feet below sonar in 33ft setting was not detected at all. Was catching fish in same location but sonar did not show a single thing. Just the bottom.

LOVE IT!!

Shows me where the fish are and many other things without breaking the bank and dealing with all of the hassle of traditional fishfinders!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Cheap copy

The cheapest copy of industrys leader I have ever seen. Very poor quality.

You have to buy a sonar for app to work

Unless you have a sonar buoy for it, dont waste time downloading.

This is amazing

I love this so much!! Dont know what I would do with out mine!!

Not for anglers

Typical email farm.... wants you to set up an account and have to log in just to go fishing. What a joke...I deleted it.

More about posting photos than fishing

Manual in app is not for the hunter I have. No directions for even charging the unit. Dont know which military they are referring to, but doubt if they would be a threat.

Open apps

Why cant I open apps with iPad??? I signed on and everything. Apps are junk in my book

Needs improvement ASAP

The app always crashes when trying to upload pictures, there is no zoom feature for ice flasher. Extremely troublesome to find the directions for the directional 3D sonar, no link to it in the app. Needs to be updated badly, competitors apps are far more functional.

Losing connection

Works ok with iPhone 5s, freezes with iPad. Needs updates

Needs some work

The sonar part works really well. Havent had any problems with that. But the logging catches, the connecting to and finding friends from Facebook and Twitter doesnt work. So for that Ill keep using fishbrain to log my catches.

Wanted to give it 5

First I am in love with my fish hunter sonar. I was able to find depth and even mark fish(and catch them). My only complaints, and that is why this review got a 4 instead of 5 are as follows: 1. I had to try two different sonar units to get one that worked; the first one I got was junk. However, my unit was replaced with no questions asked, and the process was very easy. And 2. This app needs the functionality to zoom in on a selected part of the water column; watching the whole flasher is a little difficult. This would allow for better differentiation between the bait, the bottom, and the fish making all appear as bigger marks with more space in between them. In closing if this app had a zoom function it would get a 5, and I would forget about the first sonar unit I received not working. However, the lack of zoom makes the flasher mode more difficult to use; and, therefore, limits the use of the product and app as a whole.

Buggy but GREAT potential

The good: the capabilities of this app and the 3D fish hunter are nothing short of incredible, after connecting it to my iPhone I drifted it out about 75 and had it in 3D sonar mode, I was just about to cast when I got a ping, fish at 5, threw a perfect cast (if I do say so myself) and bam a nice Waleye took it. Ive mapped some areas of my favorite fishing spot and found some holes and structure I didnt even knew existed, its amazing. Now the bad: the app crashes, several times tonight alone. If you have to say answer a text, call or take a picture of a fish and you will have to reconnect to the bouy. To reconnect you have to reel it back in (even if you get a good signal) and you have to reconnect which sometimes takes a couple tries and is a pain. Also, every time you open the app and want to use the fish finder you have to tell it what kind of finder you have. Why? Cant the app just remember what kind of finder you have? It is connected to your device which you have to register and be signed in on. Overall minus some bugs its incredible.
